A thin but vast, hot desert, Kortalis is home to the Irae, who have huge numbers in the sands, and have built a number of large cities, including the massive capital, Samenta. The bulk of the country is incapable of supporting life, so the Irae congregate on the few life-giving river systems that penetrate the arid heat, and on what little coastline they can easily access.
