A religious race, the Irae are an example of just how dark fanaticism can be. Making their home in the hot sands of Kortalis, and almost completely isolated to that desert, the Irae have a number of very large desert cities throughout the region, the largest of which being their capital, Samenta. The Irae are members of an ancient religion, and have bastardized its teachings more and more over time, eventually reaching a point where violence against nonbelievers is considered not only justified, but honorable. They have little belief in materialism or in their current life, looking forward instead toward the afterlife for reward. This results in a lethal combination of willingness to sacrifice their own lives to kill as many nonbelievers as possible.

Rejected by the pious followers of their own religion who still practice its peaceful origins and teachings, the Irae are alone in Extremus Terra, but remain determined to make others hear them. Masters of guerrilla warfare, they wait patiently for another race to turn its back, always ready to exploit another's weakness with a suicide bomber.
